We hooked up with our friend Liz and made a trip to to the secondhand store Savers in Warwick RI. We had a great time!
As it turned out, the dressing rooms were closed so we couldn’t try on any clothes. We thought they would accept returns, but when we checked out the cashier told us returns had to be within 2 weeks, and only for store credit. Not so fun.
It’s always an adventure to go to a new thrift store. Everything is new to you! Liz just moved into a new apartment so we spent some time in housewares as well as the clothing racks.
You can tell we had a holiday vibe going on.
Guess who scored on the shoes?
We did a final sort through the carriage before check out. Since we couldn’t do any try-ons, we were ruthless about putting back anything we weren’t confident about fitting. We also did the ‘What else can I wear this with?’ or “Where will I wear this?’ and last but not least “Do I really need another pair of jeans/jacket/graphic tee?’
Then it was time for a late lunch! We went to Carrabba’s right down the street, splurging on cocktails and some delish food before heading home.
We each did a try-on when we got home and shared the keepers and the OMG No! Liz returned her No’s, since she lives not far away from Warwick. For Rachel and Pam, the hour drive wasn’t worth the time and gas. Pam only had one pair of pants and one shirt that didn’t fit, so she passed them on to friend.
Rachel scored big with the black boots shown above. She was hesitant to purchase then, not sure how much she would really wear them. Turns out, she has been wearing them a lot!! Only paid $20 when they retail for over $100. SCORE! She also scored with a gorgeous pin stripe button down that is bedazzled with hot air balloons, all around right up her alley! The only questionable item she purchased was a pair of pink corduroy pants. They were a little tight at first, but slowly fitting. She had been looking for pink corduroys for awhile, but now that she has them, she’s not sure about the color against her skin tone.

What an adventure you had!! I remember in the old days at Filene’s Basement, we tried things on in the aisles. I found many wonderful pieces there.
I remember doing that too!
