Accessories with Pizzazz

It’s so easy to get carried away with accessories- jewelry, handbags, scarves. You can pick up a little bauble here, a scarf there, handbags at Goodwill or TJMaxx, especially since they are not usually very pricey. They become overwhelming and the next thing you know, you have no idea what you have anymore!

Every so often, you pick up something that works, all the time. Here’s a few of our favorites that we reach for time after time.

Accessories weren’t on my radar at all in my adult mom life. Most of the time I was happy to have clothes that matched! When my inner diva woke up in my fifties, I started accessorizing. Now I’m all about the sparkle and adding that little bit of extra pizzazz to my outfits!

I have one necklace that simply goes with everything. It’s from Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski® and I just love it. The clasp is a sliding bolero-type so you can adjust the length which makes it really versatile. The price is a little high compared to fast-fashion stores (IMO, anyway) but good quality. I wear it regularly so my cost per wear is very low!

I admit I get tired of my clothes and accessories after a time and like something new and shiny! My most recent necessity splurge is this scarf from Talbot’s. I was wearing my blue jacket and it matched perfectly so I couldn’t resist. It turned out to be a great addition to my closet because I am able to pair it up with nearly everything!

Since it’s small, square, and very light-weight, I’ll be able to wear it in every season. I adore scarves and I have about a dozen, but I find it challenging to style the long, rectangle ones. I have a big bust and I don’t like the look of too much fabric sitting on my chest. I end up letting them hang down, which creates a flattering line, but it gets boring to wear that way all the time. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you wear scarves?

I challenged myself to wear it every day for week and it turned out to be not difficult at all!

The list could go on for a few other jewelry pieces, I’m a bracelet queen for sure! But enough for today!

I am a simple girl when it comes to accessories. I don’t go for statement pieces. I used to have a buch of scarves. Okay, I still have the scarves, but I never really wear them anymore.

My staple is a simple necklace. I tend to wear the same one for months before trading it for a different one. Even then, I rotate between the same couple. Every so often I’ll really switch it up and wear a choker or a necklace with a longer chain!

I love bracelets. I have a few Alex and Ani’s that were gifted to be a couple years ago. When I want to feel a little more dressed up, I reach for those. Recently I bought this beaded bracelet. I love the little bee charm on it! The card it came on said to “Bee Happy.” It’s a simple reminder to stay positive when I wear it.

I am a big earring fan!! I believe earrings can really dress up even a simple, casual outfit. I love hoop earrings and went through a phase where I tried to find different style hoops. The butterfly hoops are one of my favorite pairs. I did say before that I don’t go for statement piece, but I can make an exception for earrings. The flowery ones are big and heavy, but really make me feel fancy. Also pictured are some of my favorite “normal” earrings. I’ll save the more fun and quirky ones for a future post!

As you can see, a lot of the accessories I wear are pieces that can be worn with almost anything. They can be worn with a casual outfit, a work outfit, or even something more dressy.
