Thrifting on Vacation

Winter Bee:

I have family in Findlay, Ohio so I travel there at least once a year to visit. My sister-in-law and I love thrifting, decorating, and gardening, so we always make it a point to get to our favorite thrift stores and antique malls. You never know what you’ll find, some trips are a big zero and sometimes you hit the jackpot!

Luck was with me this visit to Style Encore for some spring clothes shopping. I brought with me items to sell as well. Since I buy most of my clothes second-hand, I usually donate back to Goodwill. Every so often I have something a bit more upscale that I save to bring to Ohio. This time, the store bought several things so I was very happy.

I probably try on ten things for every one I (might) buy. It’s discouraging sometimes to try on all these clothes and none of them fit, or feel comfy, or just look terrible! I’ve gotten pickier about my purchasing in the last few years- I’ve learned if I buy something ‘meh’ it will sit in the closet. Now I buy for the things that make my eyes light up when I put them on.

This was a productive trip! I walked out of the store with a dress, skirt, sweater, one pair of jeans, and 3 tops. I put the sweater to immediate use since it was very chilly that week!

Here’s the looks:

I love this dress! It’s a LuLaRoe and super soft and stretchy. I don’t own any wrap dresses, which is why I tried this one on. Wrap dresses are especially flattering if you are high-waisted, busty, and/or curvy. I just may be on a mission for more wrap dresses!
I got both the sweater and the shirt. You can’t really tell in this photo, but the shirt has a unique square neckline. The length of the sweater is perfect for so many of the other shirts in my closet, and I’m loving the vibrant color!
The color of these pants!!!!! I was so happy they fit! I do have to do something with the length, they are weirdly not-quite-cropped that looks much better rolled up a bit. They match almost everything in my closet! I really fell for this linen shirt too. I wavered for a minute because it’s sleeveless, but you know, my upper arms are what they are. Rock the body-positivity, no matter your age!
I prefer wearing skirts in summer over shorts. I have a navy stripe jersey-knit skirt that I can’t seem to style to my liking, so I’m pleased to find this linen skirt to replace it. [J Crew, brand new with the $80 price tag still on it- SCORE.] I like the horizontal band at the bottom. Surprisingly, I like it with this tee! Life is Good ® t-shirts are the only graphic tees I wear. And they are hard to find thrifted! They are always so soft and stinkin’ cute. Spread the love, peeps ♥.

I’m glad the weather is warming up and I can wear these spring clothes! Which is your favorite look? Are you a fan of colored jeans or do you go blue/black all the way?
