First Thrifting Trip of 2022

It was another impulse trip to Goodwill. Every time we meet up for breakfast there’s time to kill before Rachel’s nail appointment so guess where we go!

I found a couple of shirts I liked. It’s challenging finding tunic shirts now they’ve gone ‘out of style’. I love that look and I feel great wearing tunics or dresses with capri leggings (another fashion expert no-no) so I don’t care! It’s personal choices like this that gives one ‘style’ over fashion. Asymmetrical hemlines aren’t a favorite but I quite like this one.

The tan vest I got at Goodwill last September (read about it here) is getting quite a bit of attention! The orange poppy print scarf goes in and out of the give-away box. I haven’t been able to pinpoint why I don’t like wearing it. But I do like it with this bright orange.

The light blue JJill cardigan is a terrific find for only $6.99! It’s lightweight and I think will be worn often this spring and summer. Here’s one that’s very similar (and about $50 retail!).

Lastly, I spotted a tan-ish terry sweatshirt. I wanted something cozy for days when I’m home doing housework and things and this really fits the bill! I’ve worn it several times but no photos since it’s just ‘lounging.’

While we were heading into the housewares section I strolled through the pants section. I saw the flowered Talbots pants and fell in love. They are size 14 which works both ways for me at Talbots- sometimes they fit, sometimes not. And look how well they go with every shirt I was buying! I decided to risk it and bought them.

They didn’t fit.

However, I found another pair on Poshmark in size 16 with an elasticized waistband so I bought them. They fit but look peculiar on. So strictly because I am obsessed with this print, I am going to take both pairs to my local dressmaker and see if between the two I can end up with a pair of pants that fit and look flattering. Suffice it to say, this is NOT thrifty. LOL.

Oh- and I got a charger for a buck. If you are looking for attractive saucers to put plant pots on- look for chargers, plates, and saucers at your local thrift shop!

This time at the thrift store, I actually did not find too much that I liked enough to buy. There have been times where I buy SO MANY new pieces. Recently, I’ve been trying to cut back, my wardrobe, which means my mindset going into the store was “only buy it if you really have to have it.

Fortunately, for the sake of this post, I did find a couple things!

I fell in love with this denim button up when I saw it. This was a must have. I’ve been wanting to buy a demin top for awhile now, but usually when I come across them, they aren’t a style I would wear. This top has been getting a lot of love! I usually pair it with black leggings and my blue cheetah print Kate Spade shoes I thrifted.

I am not usually in the market of buying louging or pajama shirts. Typically, my graphic tees turn into sleep shirts after awhile. (Check out the post about my graphic tees here) I saw this Friends shirt and thought it looked so cozy. Plus, I love Friends, so this was also a must have!

Finally, I found this beautiful dress. When I saw it I know it needed something extra, but I wasn’t sure what it was. Pam was the saving grace and said, “you could add a belt!” She helped me pick out this pretty gold woven belt to go with the dress. It looks so good together and I’m so glad Pam was there to help accessorize.
