With Fall’s arrival and the temperatures dropping, it’s time to pull out the jeans. We have our favorite brands, but there is always the elusive perfect fit and color that keeps us checking out the racks at our favorite thrift stores.
Winter Bee
I am happy with dark wash jeans, but every so often I like to brighten things up with a lighter jean. Trouble is, they tend to have a yellow or gray cast that clashes with the rest of my wardrobe.
A couple years ago, I picked up a pair from Lane Bryant. Not my favorite fit, but the color was acceptable. I kept looking though!
This summer, I visited a new consignment shop here in town- 2Gals Resale Therapy. [It’s a super cute store. Good stuff!] I found this adorable straw rainbow purse and tried on a pair of light/medium wash Levi’s just for the heck of it.
I rarely try on Levi’s since their cut doesn’t normally flatter my curvy shape and I couldn’t believe how well they fit! And the color is the coolest blue I’ve found.
I did some comparison pics. The lighter wash on it’s own (first photo above) doesn’t look yellowed, but next to the Levi’s and a few of my sweaters, you can really see it.
Of course, the acid test is actually wearing the jeans a few times. After a couple wears, I’m loving the color but they are too big in the waist so I’m constantly hiking them up. They’re also a little baggy in the hips. Not a fan of belts, so the next launder I’ll throw them in the dryer and see if they shrink up.
(Naturally, I don’t expect them too. The only ones that ever shrink are the jeans that fit perfectly before you wash them. Ha.)
If that doesn’t work, I’ll experiment nipping in the waist with a safety pin.
Hand’s down, my fav jeans are Lane Bryant high rise curvy fit skinny jean. I also have a pair of Old Navy jeans that have worn well. I just might break bend my no-fast-fashion rule and check out the light wash version.
The only thing I don’t like about the Lane Bryant jeans are the whiskering (the intentional horizontal striping) across the front. I don’t get why a company for plus-size women do something that highlights the tummy? GAH!
However, having a jean that fits perfectly through my hips and thigh without bagging makes up for it.
My motto is one cannot have too much spandex in their jeans. The miracle fiber IMHO. ☺

I love a good pair of jeans. I have had a jeans transformation over the last year. It all started in 2007 when skinny jeans were the IT jean. And I have not let go of skinny jeans for the last fifteen years. They look good on me and they feel great. I have tried other cuts over the years , but was self concious about they looked.
Until this year! This year I really wanted to branch out and try a jean that is more of the 2022 style. Uniqlo is my favorite store for basics (plus they have the best bras). This summer I found this pair of light washed jeans with little tears. I couldnt belive that non-skinny jeans actually looks good on me!
Speaking of tears, I also love ripped jeans. My favorite pair right now have the knees torn out. However, I have moved away from the jeans that have a lot of rips in the thighs. The ripped knees seem like a safe option in between.
Unlike Winter Bee, I choose jeans based more on the style and various fits than the color or wash. I actually like to have an array of different washes, but I did recently donate a pair of dark wash. I just did not like how they looked with the tops I have.
Dear readers- do you wear jeans? What’s your favorite brand? Do you buy based on wash/color, style, or fit? Let us know in the comments!
