Tangerine Tea’s Wedding Shower and Holes in our Closet.

Tangerine Tea is busy planning her wedding next month so she is taking a break from the blog right now. In the mean time, Winter Bee will do most of the postings.

Last weekend was Rachel’s wedding shower. The weather was perfect so we could be outside. It was hosted by Rachel’s bestie Liz (friend to both Tangerine Tea and Winter Bee), Mother-in-law to be and Sister-in-law to be. Delish food and a Pinterest-worthy Champagne bar!

Rachel looked like a mermaid for the party! She wore the cutest maxi-dress. Her hair was styled in long waves and pinned back with two clips she made herself. If you remember in one of our first posts Rachel talked about making resin jewelry, hoping to sell them in the future.

Maxi dresses are still having their style moment, so take a look at why this dress looks so wonderful on Rachel.

The dress fits perfectly and we don’t see any undergarments. This princess-style looks especially flattering because it fits under her bust. Always consider that detail buying this style dress or shirt- be sure the seam is under your bust! Not only will that flatter your figure, it will eliminate looking like you are expecting. Unless, of course, you are expecting!

The next detail on this dress is the length. The hem is as long as possible, creating a column and the illusion of height. And it is not so long it drags on the ground. The muted colors also look lovely on Rachel. We say this is a 10 out of 10 for Rachel!

You all be getting the inside scoop of the wedding in a month. I can tell you she will be gorgeous in her dress! We can’t wait to share it with you.

Discovering a Hole in my Closet (Winter Bee)

This adorable eyelet skirt was gifted to me. I love it, but it poses a few challenges. The waistband is elastic- comfy enough but not attractive enough to wear a shirt tucked in. All of my shirts are too long to wear over the skirt. For this skirt I need to wear a top that is shorter, resting on the top of my hip.

I have nothing like that in my closet, except for this one sweater. If you’ve been following the blog, you have probably picked up that I don’t wear black. When I purged the black from my wardrobe, this was the only top I saved. It fits like a dream, the length is perfect, three-quarter sleeves, V-neck, and the ribbing at the bottom keeps the curve instead of hanging like a sack. It ticks all the boxes- except it’s black! Sadness.

I really need to fill the gap with at least one or two lightweight sweaters or shirts in this style. I did look on-line for this particular sweater in another color but no luck there. Over the next few months I will be on a mission for this particular style top.

Looking at this photo, I really miss the bling! It’s a good reminder to myself how much jewelry can oomph up an outfit. Imagine to yourself how a necklace and a sparkly, colorful bracelet would add to this outfit. Shame on me for being lazy! At least the sunglasses added the glam…

How about you, dear readers? Do you have a ‘hole’ in your closet? Do you wear any maxi dresses? Let us know in the comments!

  1. So why absolutely no black? I never asked. It’s a neutral color that goes easily with most everything. I completely get keeping black to a minimum like say as a pop of color on a favorite coat – oh wait 😎 But why is it banished completely? You could do a blog post on that. I love your colors, bling and style.

    1. A few years ago I was experimenting with minimalist lifestyle and Project 333. I was feeling gloomy about my wardrobe and came across a lifestyle program called Dress Your Truth that really spoke to me. I will definitely do a post on my color journey!

  2. I also have some skirts in that style that none of my shirts quite flatter. I’ll be on the lookout too! Winter Bee, you look cute in your black and white ensemble. I don’t mind black but color IS more fun! As far as maxi dresses go, I love them. They are better than long skirts on me. As another short friend’s father said to her, when I wear a long skirt I look like I am smuggling elves. Tangerine Tea looked beautiful in her maxi!

    1. Thanks Claudia, I can picture how good you would look in a maxi! I hope you share your success in finding some new shirts that flatter and fill a hole in your closet!
